A bipartisan group of two US senators on Thursday introduced a Senate resolution condemning China's aggression against India to change the status quo on the line of de facto control between the two Asian giants.
The decision by Senator John Cornyn, a Republican majority in the Senate Whip, and Senator Mark Warner, a senior member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, followed cases of Chinese military harassment of Indian patrols as well as increased troop deployments and infrastructure building. John Cornyn and Mark Warner are co-chairs of the India Bloc in the Senate.
"As one of the founders of the India Caucus in the Senate, I know firsthand the importance of the strong relationship between the United States and India," said John Cornyn.
"I commend India's commitment to stand up to China and keep the Indo-Pacific region free and open. It is more important than ever that we support our Indian partners as they defend against Chinese aggression."
Indian and Chinese forces have entered into bitter confrontation in several areas along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in East Ladakh since May 5.
