Lionel Messi's lawyers reportedly sent a fax to Barcelna odeclaring his desire to cancel his contract by enforcing the release clause.
A club source confirmed to AFP on Tuesday that Lionel Messi had informed Barcelona that he wanted to end his "one-sided" contract with the Spanish giants.
The Argentine star’s lawyers sent a fax to Barcelona declaring Messi’s desire to cancel his contract by activating a penalty clause. However,
the club retains the clause ending in June and remains on contract until the end of the 2021 season.
And the Spanish sports daily Marca wrote, "In principle, this clause expired on June 10, but the extraordinary nature of this season disrupted by the Corona virus opened the way for Messi to request the release of his contract now."
